Utilizing Unused Company Donation Matches

Help ensure that the billions of dollars in donation matching from unused employee benefits don’t go to waste!

How It Works

GiveMost matches donors with company donation matches that employees don't want to use themselves.

Donor DonationDonors give us their donations and specify their charity of choice

Employee DonationEmployees with unused company matches donate that amount to the donor’s charity

Company MatchEmployees request that their company match their donation

ReimbursementWe reimburse the employee with the donor’s donation

We need both donors’ and employees’ help to make this work!

Our Mission

According to World Health Organization reports, if we had a second of silence for everyone who has died of Malaria between 2000 and 2023, we would be silent for over half a year. About 3/4 of deaths were children.GiveWell estimates that it costs under $5,500 to save a life from malaria. Multiply that by the roughly 600k deaths from malaria each year yields $3.3 billion. Double the Donation estimates that $4-7 billion in corporate donation matching goes unclaimed by employees each year. We can eliminate malaria deaths this year.GiveMost exists to help direct unused matching funds to causes that desperately need them. We are all together on a small rock floating in a vast empty void. The least we can do is take care of each other.

About Us

It's just me for now :)

Hi, I’m Marcus, thanks for checking out GiveMost! So, about a year out from graduating from college, I made a donation to the Malaria Consortium and doubled it with my company's donation match. Unfortunately, our dashboard showed that only about 250 employees of the several thousand had used their donation match. Millions of dollars that were set aside for charitable causes were going unused at my company alone. I started GiveMost shortly after hoping to direct some of these funds to good causes.Would love to connect on LinkedIn!

Frequently Asked Questions

What nonprofits can I donate to?
You can donate to any charity on the United States' IRS list of tax-exempt nonprofits under Section 501(c)(3). If you can’t find a charity but believe it should be there, please contact us at [email protected].

Are there any fees?
There’s currently a 2% added to donations to support the platform. Standard payment processing fees will be added depending on the form of payment: 3% for credit card and 1% up to $5 for ACH bank transfer. We’re working to reduce fees in the future.

Are donations tax deductible?
For those whose donations would get them over the standard deduction (~$15k filing single, ~$30k married)
Currently, donations to GiveMost are not tax-deductible. We’re working on obtaining nonprofit status to change this, but this can take months. The IRS is slooow. Donations by the employee are not tax-deductible because we reimburse them. Do not try to claim a deduction.

What if no employees get my donation matched?
After 6 months, if a donation is not matched, we will donate it to the charity of choice.

What if my company policy doesn't allow reimbursed donations?
We don’t endorse breaching company policy.

What if I was going to use my company match?
Please use it! GiveMost is for employees who have a match but don’t have the means to donate themselves.
